Reinstalling the IDVisor Smart App After Factory Reset

If your IDVisor Smart app was deleted or no longer on your IDVisor Smart V1, Smart V2, Smart Plus, or S50 you will need to re-install the app. Possible causes the app was deleted can be due to a device factory reset, accidentally dragging the app to the trash icon, or using the Delete Data option in Apps and Notifications in the Android Settings. The app is not available on the Google Play Store and will have to be downloaded using the link provided in the instructions below.

There are two ways to go about reinstalling the IDVisor Smart app on your device.

Please follow the directions below to re-install your IDVisor Smart app back on your device.

Option #1: Downloading and installing the app directly on the Scanner

To reinstall the IDVisor Smart app directly on your scanner, open the Browser or Chrome app on your device and type in the following web address:

http://idvisor.net/sm/smart.apk

When you visit that site, it will start downloading the installer file named smart.apk. Once the download is finished, go to the Files App and go to the Download folder. You should see the smart.apk file in there. Click it and then click Install at the bottom of the screen. Open the application once the installation is finished. When you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to Request an Activation Code.

Tap in the Request an Activation Code button and enter your business credentials on the screen. Once the request has been submitted you will receive an email confirming your Activation request has been received. When the device has been activated you will receive another email confirming the activation.

After receiving the email confirming the device has been activated, reboot the device. After the reboot the IDVisor Smart app will load normally.

Option #2:Using a PC or Mac

To reinstall the IDVisor Smart app using your PC or Mac open an Internet browser (Chrome preferred) then visit the link below.

http://idvisor.net/sm/smart.apk

When you visit that site, it will start downloading the installer file named smart.apk. Do not try to open this file on your PC or Mac. The apk will be downloaded to the Download folder on your PC or Mac unless specified otherwise by the user.

Connect your device to your PC or Mac.

See here how to connect an IDVisor Smart device to a Mac: https://www.idscanner.us/knowledge-base/how-to-connect-an-idvisor-smart-device-to-a-mac/

When connected on Windows PC: Use File Explorer to navigate to the scanner’s file directory.

When connected on Mac: Use the Android File Transfer tool to navigate to the scanner’s file directory.

Once connected, copy the smart.apk file to PDA > Internal Shared Storage > Downloads. After the file is copied, use the scanner and go to the Files App and then the Download folder. You should see the smart.apk file in there. Click it and then click Install at the bottom of the screen. Open the application once the installation is finished. When you open the app for the first time, you will be prompted to Request an Activation Code.

Tap on the Request an Activation Code button and enter your business credentials on the screen. Once the request has been submitted you will receive an email confirming your Activation request has been received. When the device has been activated you will receive another email confirming the activation.

Should your device not activate, please switch to a different WiFi network (e.g. at home) or use your phone’s mobile hotspot.  We have seen some WiFi firewalls block the internet traffic necessary to download the license file. If your device should still not activate please contact our customer customer support.

After receiving the email confirming the device has been activated, reboot the device. After the reboot the IDVisor Smart app will load normally.
